December Holidays and Christmas

Hi all! December began with my darling husband buying me an early Christmas present--a DLSR camera which has been a source of great joy to me. Capturing the kids emotions as they happen (as opposed to many seconds after the event like with the old FujiFilm) is a joy for me, and I hope you get as much of a kick out of these photos as I did. The first few are from the old camera, before it threw in the towel.

This little girl is as cheeky as they come!

Setting up the Christmas tree was incredibly exciting for the kids. They really seemed to "get it" this year. Every day, for the whole of Advent, they would ask as soon as they woke up, " Is it Christmas yet?" Needless to say, both Luke and I were glad when it was!

"Stronger than kong kong" as Ben would say. (King Kong)

We had Fr. Polly over for dinner the other night. It was our first time entertaining priests, so I made something fancy for dessert...chocolate cheese cake balls with chocolate mirror glaze.

Bernie P was getting married and she wasn't going to have a bridal shower--so I though "oh what the heck" and threw her one. It was a shabby chic style hightea at my house with about 16 women and girls.
We had pink lemonade, chilled moscato, cupcakes topped with fondant roses and sugared rose petals, coconut ice domes, a strawberry topiary, tia maria truffles, lemon meringue tarts, meringues, mini banoffee pies, pink lamingtons, the list goes on. It was lots of fun but lots of work..a weeks worth of cooking.

Strawberry Topiary

The Massey girls at Thanksgiving (Luke has an American Aunty so it was celebrated this year (2013)

We can now see Vienna's lips! the dummy was tossed out recently, by Vienna herself, and we haven't heard a word of it since.

Cecelia is comando crawling already, and nothing is safe! Made her way into the kitchen today, I think its time to put the gates up again.

Fat and loving it.

One of my four sweethearts:)

Picnic with my babies.

Exploring nature with the girls...

Minding my niece Isabel for the day...isnt she a doll!

Ben reminds me of Christopher here.

Did the kids see Mummy kissing Santa this year? yes. haha! Luke only stayed in the suit a grand total of 5 minutes, it was far too hot! Cecelia didn't appreciate being wedged between her siblings either.

A very young and female santa.

Hanging around the presents like flies on Christmas eve...

Born to be a princess.

For some unknown reason, the kids will not unwrap their own presents. Unless they are under the tree before Christmas day.

"And what am I getting for Christmas?" asks Cecelia. "What? more milk??"

We took the kids to midnight mass this year--this is Luke and I in the kitchen the next morning brewing coffee together. Dont know how Luke looks so bright eyed! haha!

A messy Massey Christmas around present opening time

Pop as Santa this year and his little helper elf Ben.

One of Ben's presents. He likes to shoot birds away with it, and sometimes those poor chooks (only because he's not allowed to shoot Vienna.)

The rat pack making a huge mess "Mum, go away please." says Ben.

 Wine and Cheese night :)

Cousins, all watching Toy Story.

Marce and I in the kitchen with all the good stuff...

 Cecelia chubbing up:)

 Missy's tears

There's no such thing as holidays without a visit to the hospital or doctors in this house! Ben managed to slip over in his room and cut his head open on the corner of the metal bed. Poor boy. Luckily Luke has a few weeks holidays at this time.
We went to the beach down on the Gold Coat the next day. Needless to say, Ben wasnt allowed to get too damp.

C not so sure about the beach here...5 months old.

Lucky for pirate-loving Ben, there was a park close by to the beach that was completely Pirate themed!
The kids had a total blast while we had a picnic lunch:)

There were even buried  "bones" and treasure to dig up in the sand!

Ipswich Rail Museum featuring lots of Thomas the tank and friends...

Queuing for a train ride

My darling Luke:)

We enjoyed a taste of the good old fashioned compartment carriages...comfy seating!

Not so impressed.

Beautiful bride...

The fellas sweating away in their suits...

We had 43C heat for Bernadette and Anthony's wedding...

 Remind you of anyone? :P

Little skirt I made on the weekend...

Hope you enjoyed the pictures! Until next month xox
